Residential Care Home Consultant SpecialistMy Story
I have worked in the health field for over 20 years, holding many positions. I started as a CNA then later became a Care Coordinator, Performance Improvement Manager, Program Supervisor, Community Support Therapist and Group Facilitator and the list goes on. With all these promotions and job opportunities that I received I always knew that I was created for something greater than the jobs I found myself during. I wanted to MORE, I needed to spend more time with my children and make MORE MONEY! Even though my job fed my family and covered SOME of the bills it didn’t feed my soul. It wasn’t until after I had my beautiful baby girl,(baby # 3) that I realized I needed to stop trading my time for little or no money and start living my God giving purpose. So, I quit my job after working at one of the largest hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
I went on a search for something more, a career that will give me more flexibility, more time freedom and being my own BOSS, after all I have the heart and the drive I deserve more! I sat down with my husband and we brainstormed for days about several different career paths but none really caught my heart, until one day when I met a lady who used to work with my in-law in a nursing home facility. She started talking about the residential care home business that she owns in the nearby community, she talked for awhile and it was clear to see the joy on her face as she excitedly express how much her income has increase and how stress free her life has become since owning her personal care home business.
After that day, I thought about her conversation and remembered how she kept emphasizing on how rewarding it was for her. suddenly memories of my great grand mother (Ma) came rushing to me. I was raised by my great grand mother, most of my childhood was spend with her, she was my everything. When she got sick I remember how hard it was on me to hear her say how much she missed doing the things she loved to do like gardening and sewing. Worse of all because of distance I was not able to give her the help and companionship she needed and it was very hard on me. When I got the message that she had passed away my only pray was I hope she was well taken care of and that she was shown love by the people who was around her during her last days.
Than it hit me, this is what I want to do! I want to make a difference, I want my time dedicated to changing the lives of others in a more impactful way. I want to give those elderly a disable in the community a place to call home, a home where they can get one on one personal care instead of being in one of those big nursing home facility where they are just a room number.
I ventured out on learning everything I could on assistant living, residential/personal care home facility. It was not an easy journey, I must say, with a few mentors and lots of paperwork I was able to successful open my first residential care home in 2016. After the first 6 months I went from providing services to 3 residents to 8 and more, than it became very clear to me that there’s a greater need for residential/personal care home providers. There are so many seniors out there that need a safe place to call home when they can’t no longer take care of themselves or live on their own.
I finally found my purpose and that is to help other people like myself open their residential/ personal care home business. With years of experienced and all that I’ve learned in this industry I want to share it with you. I’m here to help bring your dream of owning your own business that will change your life and the lives of others into manifestation. Don’t waste anymore time, I’ve gone through the hoops and have made the process simple and clear for you to follow from start to finish.
